A Dentist Who Loves to Serve the Lord
Dr. Henderson and her husband have a heart for dental missions and missionaries. They started their dental missionary journey in 2005 by volunteering at the Virginia Dental Association Mission of Mercy. While there, they learned all they could to set up a portable dental clinic for 3 consecutive years as the Elim Fellowship hosted a week long Mission to Missionaries Conference in the Elim Gospel Church in Lima, New York.
During this week missionaries and their families come in from all over the world. This is a time for them to be encouraged and strengthened. They are in need of motivation, refreshment, quiet time and medical/dental care.
The dental need is great as some of our patients have never even seen a dentist and those that have, had their treatment overseas and it was in need of repair.
We have been honored to serve our brothers and sisters in the Lord who are serving Him tirelessly. To date, we have donated over $71,000.00 worth of phase one dentistry. This includes exams, cleanings, fillings, periodontal initial therapy, extractions and even a few Bite Splints!!!
We have since joined missions.me and travelled to Honduras and Peru to serve the locals in need during the week long One Nation One Day event. These large scale events send many teams in and partner with local translators to provide medical, dental and vision care. In addition, food and shoes are distributed while the entire school system is visited by ministry teams spreading the Love of Christ. The event culminates with numerous crusades strategically placed throughout the country at the same time, so the entire nation has the opportunity to receive the Gospel message in one day.
Dr. Henderson has also volunteered her services to join the Michigan Dental Association during their Mission of Mercy events.
It is truly a blessing to serve those in need abroad and local.
